About Us

Sean Towne joined RFD in 1996 after 15 years of experience as a prime architect. His understanding of overall building design allows him to successfully integrate laboratory design concepts and systems into building design at a conceptual level. At RFD, he has completed over 70 research and education laboratory projects for both domestic and international clients. Sean has also served as a reviewer for NIH Grant Applications supported by the American Recovery & Reinvestment Act Facility Improvement Program. He is professionally affiliated with such organizations as the Society for College and University Planning, Tradeline and Project Kaleidoscope.  Sean has delivered conference presentations on a range of topics including Open Laboratory Design for Research, Trends in Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories and Benchmarking for Effective Programming.
