Sean E. Towne, AIAMr. Towne joined RFD in 1996 after 15 years as a prime architect and now specializes in the planning, programming, design and detailing of a wide range of laboratory applications in projects throughout the United States and the UK. His understanding of overall building design allows him to successfully integrate laboratory design concepts and systems into building design at a conceptual level. Mr. Towne has expertise in Institutional, R-1 Research as well as Biotechnology industry laboratory design. His experience and expertise also includes Teaching Laboratory Facilities at the Community College, State College and University level, both Public and Private. Mr. Towne has been involved with a range of organizations promoting forward thinking in the development of laboratories and higher education learning and research facilities including SCUP, Tradeline, Project Kaleidoscope and Council on Undergraduate Research. Topics on which Mr. Towne has lectured include Open Laboratory Design for Research, Trends in Undergraduate Teaching Laboratories and Benchmarking for Effective Programming.
