Highlighted Experience:
Among highlights of my consulting career I count the years spent as a prime architect working with clients and leading project teams on an array of project types including civic, commercial, retail, manufacturing, technology and R&D. While my work has become focused as a laboratory consultant the range of project types from undergraduate to research and specialized core facilities has lead to associations with forward thinking owners, architects and engineers.
Sean Towne joined RFD in 1996 after 15 years of working as a prime architect. His evolution from prime architect on technical and educational projects to his current 20+ year focus as a specialist laboratory architect has molded him into an influential architect with a critical depth of expertise and breadth of experience. Through his experience on more than 180 science projects across the U.S. and internationally, Sean is a valuable resource to architects, engineers and owners creating safe, effective and highly efficient laboratory spaces as well as developing integrated building environments for collaborative science. Sean has served as a reviewer for NIH Grant Applications and has delivered more than 35 conference presentations nationwide on technical and pedagogical laboratory topics. In early 2018 Sean was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in recognition of his significant work and national influence on the profession.
