About this project
The new 96,000 GSF Engineering & Interdisciplinary Science Complex on SDSU’s campus includes teaching labs, research labs and specialty shared labs focused on creating a crossroads for SDSU’s entrepreneurial work and all the STEM disciplines. Teaching labs have been incorporated for environmental engineering, soil science, fluids and hydraulics and thermal transfer & materials. Flexible research labs have been developed to accommodate a range of research including viromics, bioengineering, biochemistry, energy and electronics. Specialty facilities include the Zahn Innovation Platform (ZIP) & workshop, the Creative Design Center & Maker Space supported by a large scale fabrication shop, the Leonard Entrepreneurial Center, an MRI Imaging suite, a nanofab research cleanroom and a wind tunnel. The design leverages the use of a central courtyard as an outdoor collaboration space.
