About this project

Grossmont College is planning to construct a new two-story Health Science Building that will replace the existing 300-West Science Building. This new facility will have 58,140 GSF with 39,328 ASF and will be constructed of steel and concrete to meet the architectural standards of the college. The first floor will house nursing, cardiovascular technology, respiratory therapy, occupational therapy, orthopedic technology, forensics, speech pathology programs, and faculty and tech offices.
The second flood will house science, physics, astronomy, geography programs, faculty and tech offices. A basement level will house all mechanical equipment and an elevator lobby to provide handicapped access to the parking lot on the lower grade. The basement will also house the Health Proffesions and Physics/Physical Science programs that are loud and disruptive. The Courtyard will be created to unify this project with the two existing science buildings and to provide a comfortable learning environment.
The projected budget for the Health Science Building is between $19,870,356 and $31,392,000. It will be funded by local Proposition "R" funds and propsed State bond funds. A Final Project Proposal (FPP) was approved by the Board of Trustees.
