Fresno City College | Completed: 2024

About this project

38,765 NSF of laboratory and laboratory support space in a 104,008 GSF building for programs in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering and Physics. Teaching laboratories include Anatomy & Physiology, General Biology, Microbiology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, Engineering and Engineering Projects. Laboratory support spaces include large Prep/Storage Rooms that connect directly with each teaching laboratory, along with Instrument Room, NMR Room,  Chemical Storage, 3D Printing / Rapid Prototyping, Specimen Storage and Hazardous Waste Storage. Student / public circulation is separated from the laboratory support zone for safety and ease of prepping the teaching laboratories while classes are changing. Faculty offices are clustered at the 'knuckle' of the building, conveniently located between the two wings of teaching laboratories, with ample breakout spaces for student study/interaction throughout the building. The teaching laboratories are designed on a modular, flexible basis with benches and tables designed to facilitate active learning and team-based pedagogies.
