About this project
The San Diego County Public Health Laboratory is a 58,536 GSF facility designed to serve as the primary line of defense for the San Diego regions nearly 3.3 million residents. The facility includes 24,700 square feet of laboratory space critical to regional disease surveillance & outbreak response and environmental & food safety. The BSL-3 laboratory suites provide the capability to handle and identify select agents critical to emergency preparedness and biosecurity for the region. The Tuberculosis, Rabies and Molecular Serology laboratories provide specialized testing, allowing the facility serve as the reference laboratory for San Diego County, and beyond. Finally, training and surge lab space allow for rapid scaling and training in response to local public health emergencies.
