Projects
About this project
This project entails construction of a facility to house the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) Translational Research Institute (TRI). The facility will consolidate all research groups across HMC. The TRI will include state-of-the-art research laboratories, experimental clinical spaces, meeting and conference facilities, and offices and administrative areas. Specialized laboratory facilities will include an imaging core, a vivarium, an aquatics suite, a BSL3 suite, and a GMP suite. The Qatar BioBank will also be housed within this project. The Qatar BioBank will collect, store, and analyze a wealth of medical data from up to 100,000 volunteers. It will provide scientists with an invaluable resource for improving the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of chronic diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease. The BioBank is supported by a full set of processing and analytic laboratories, as well as a robotic cryogenic storage facility.
